Experiences in nature are practical, daily extenstions of the classrooms at Oak Grove.  Each back porch and picketed yard provides freedom with limits to explore the gardens created and maintain by children as young as 18 months.   Communing with nature is a daily ritual for every Oak Grove student who eventually fosters a genuine respect for their environment.

Composting is a practical life exercise that children in Primary and Elementary classrooms practice after snack and lunch each day.    Nearby composting bins and vermiculture habitats are readily available for students to contribute to and observe, full cycle, the helpful impact of recycling their waste.

Earth Day celebrations are planned every spring with parents and family members joining their student for a day of gardening and environmental projects designed to enhance learning as well as the overall asethetics of the Oak Grove community.    Growing good stewards of the earth is emphasized not only on Earth Day at OGMS, but every day.
