This activity is designed to enhance concentration and challenge the
upper body.
First, the child removes the brush from the water dispenser.
Second,
the child takes the brush and begins to “water paint”. Gentle
pressure is applied as the child strokes the brush up and down on the
board. It is expected that the child use the proper technique for holding
the brush in order to become familiar with future lessons in painting.
Third, as the water evaporates, it can no longer be visible to the eye.
The child may then choose to apply more water or begin the clean up
process.
Finally the child retrieves a bucket ( a sponge) from the cleaning
shelf. With the sponge the child begins to dry the water board.
Each child is free to water paint whenever they wish and until the need
for movement is met. This is an open ended activity which encourages
creativity as well as upper body muscular movement.
